In the Shadow of 2020

The views expressed by this post do not necessarily represent the views held by the Water Vikings, or its leadership.

FROSTBITE, Pjayo’s Pizzeria — The year is 2025. Five years ago, the COVID-19 Pandemic ground the world to a halt. But, in that silence, Club Penguin Armies thrived in ways never seen before or since. With many hitting 70 online regularly, with dozens of armies alive and well, it’s hard to believe just how dire things had been three years prior. In 2017, Disney’s Club Penguin would go offline, never to return. The brand image was in tatters, the userbase rapidly shrinking, and there were seemingly bots everywhere on the island. Amazingly, things were even rougher for those who operated the bots. Armies had been in a slow decline since the highs of 2013, both in size and culture, but would completely nosedive in 2015. Cheating became rampant, actual community size tumbled and once great armies were rapidly running out of steam. It’s entirely within reason to say that the 2015-2017 stretch was the single worst era in Club Penguin Army history, and that recovery would seem impossible.

Yet despite everything, 2020 would roll around, and would grant the community what seemed to be a second chance. This time, we can keep this little game of ours alive. There were problems, yes, but it seemed the community had grabbed onto a third golden age. Fast forward to 2022. Another case for the worst era in CPA history, where the amount of active armies seemed to dwindle to eight, wars were hardly fought, and if they were, it was a match to see who would blink and break the increasingly ludicrous amount of rules first. Tournaments barely functioned, with claims of collusion with the judges coming from all corners, sizes were what could be deemed a historical average, if not in a mild slump. This time, barring a second world ending pandemic, it seemed that the end was truly drawing near for the black sheep of Club Penguin.

The year is 2025. Club Penguin Armies seem as healthy as ever. A thriving media landscape, very healthy sizes, a dynamic army scene, with more than enough armies to fill out a top ten. Seemingly out of nowhere, armies have made a full recovery from what seemed like one of the lowest points in its history. Yes, it might finally be time to declare 2025 the fourth golden age, following in the footsteps of 2009, 2013, and 2020.

Or, that would be the case, if there wasn’t something missing. Something that is seemingly on the minds of every great thinker in this community, from every army, and from every rank within the media and judging wings. Arguably the single most important part of this game, the very backbone of its creation. Where the hell are all the wars? Continue reading

[AM] INVASION OF HOCKEY + WINNING THE WORLD CUP – 08/09/25 – Water Vikings of CP

Frostbite, Water Vikings Capital — Today we logged on to invade the server Hockey in rooms Casa Fiesta and Stadium. It was deemed a successful invasion after the first 10 minutes of the event, but we stayed on longer to train. This training was great in terms of our cleanliness in forms, especially shown when we made an Infinity formation with only 28 penguins. Congratulations to MiniDuo (Discord: @shark_in_the_dark.) for being the Featured Troop of the Event! Take a look at these amazing event pictures!

Resurrection of the Water Vikings Empire

Greetings, Water Vikings.

2025 has been a major year for this army. Coming from a major low point by the end of 2024, following the implementation of the Frostbite Plan, we saw ourselves rise from merely just a small army to becoming a top contender in the army scene – winning the S/M portion of the Candy Crush Brawl and rising to the top 5 armies by June 2025. Implementing Operation: Ocean Breakthrough, we managed to have one of largest rises to date; we managed to rise from a top 5 army in May to reaching the top 3 by June, and then becoming #1 army throughout July, scoring the most #1 positions on the top ten (three weeks back to back), averaging sizes at normal events of 40+, and reaching a peak max of 63, 75, and 88 in our Legends Cup battles. This era, now deemed the 2025 Blue Summer, saw the most significant Water Vikings tournament run since 2024’s March Madness, in addition to being one of Water Vikings most significant Legends Cup runs ever, perhaps even triumphing the 2022 run. While we did not win, nor reach the official finals; we broke many records for Water Vikings, saw the most significant rise in 2025 to date, took part in the largest battle of 2025 to date (and only barely lost; many have considered this battle the “true” finals of Legends Cup XV), and ultimately created one of the most well-trained (despite fighting uphill) and unified eras of Water Vikings in history, all within a two month period. What has been evident is that the rise of Water Vikings back to the top has been significant in army history, as well as Water Vikings history in itself.

Many of the people in the army here have not quite been well immersed with the history of the Water Vikings, and in addition, many of the people in the army here did not even experience the subtle rise from February to May. In the month of May, we took part of something known as the Club Penguin Armies map. This map contains various servers (the places where we log on Club Penguin) acting as provinces, which can be “invaded”. Many of the servers can be invaded through peaceful means, but ultimately, to obtain the largest amount of servers, you must win them via war.

With that, I’d like to introduce yet another major Water Vikings plan in the making, Operation: Ocean Conquest. Read more for further information.

[AM] Operation: We’re Back – 8/5/25

Frostbite, Water Vikings Capitol — Today marked our first event since the end of the Legends Cup, and what a return it was! We gathered not with heavy hearts, but with heads held high, ready to celebrate the beginning of a new chapter. Though we didn’t take the trophy this year, we achieved something no generation of Water Vikings ever has: we reached new heights and ushered in a golden age for our army. A single loss will never define us, nor will it ever slow the current that drives us forward. This event was just the beginning. We’re back, and we’re only getting stronger. Shoutout to Michael15_00 for standing out as the featured troop of the event!

[EU] Legends Cup Battle Against RPF – 08/02/2025

Greetings, Water Vikings.

It is with a heavy heart that I write this post today, weightened by disappointment or frustration. Tonight, from the very morning to a few seconds before the battle, we were hyped to fight on the most anticipated battle as of recent times. We were ready to fight against the Rebel Penguin Federation, our brother allies as our Semi-Finals for the Legends Cup. As we logged into the Iceberg, we prepared with some warm-ups before being launched into Casa Fiesta, then the Cove, to end in the Stadium. An overtime round was then announced, and we came back to the starting point, the Iceberg. Unfortunately, even after our determination and perseverance, the battle ended up as a defeat. You’ll find below pictures taken from the event, as well as a note from myself.
