Meet the Heads of Water Vikings Media

Frostbite, Water Vikings’ Capital – Hello Vikings, in this post you’ll learn a bit more about our amazing media heads, Kath and B2. Have you ever wondered what running a media committee looks like? Well, this is your chance!  Between the propaganda for Legends Cup and the weekly, bi-weekly and monthly columns in Ocean Oracle, I had the opportunity to sit down with both of our Media Heads (we might have had to pull out B2 from a chess game for it)

First of all, introduce yourself! Tell us a little about yourself, your hobbies, or anything else you’d like the WV family to know.

Kath: Hi! I’m Kath, Water Vikings Silly Goose and the girl who reminds everyone to drink water! I joined Water Vikings in November 2025, and I am now HCOM! I love to write, colour, take photos, and bake (if you didn’t see Cats & Pancakes, there is literally a screenshot of me asking what to bake!) Something that WV needs to know… Well, I’ll always be there to listen to you no matter what! I’m just a silly goose trying to make everyone feel welcome!

B2: My name is b2, I’m a viking lord and media committee minister! I’ve been in WV for a while (since 2021) but was pretty inactive from 2021 until like March 2025 when I did become active. A lot of people know me for liking chess and like many others I am Canadian!

What first inspired you to join Media, and how did your journey eventually lead to becoming a Media head?

Kath: I always loved writing, and I came from media studies. It was the perfect occasion for me to go back to the source and just start writing again. I became Media Head after B2 gave me the offer on April 12, 2026. I was helping around and being present while fulfilling my tasks in the committee. The journey of being a Head of Committee is not easy, but I would not trade it for anything else!

B2: What first inspired me to join media was I think rye telling me to join because I was recording some of the events when I first joined staff? Ever since then I’ve really liked all aspects of it (i’m really bad at art lol but I still love it). When rye exited leadership there was a new media minister needed and aaron was the interim minister but I was then promoted to minister in like november ish to keep things afloat

What’s been your favourite memory or project you’ve worked on in Media so far?

Kath: So far, my journey in Media has been filled with projects and amazing propositions. I think my top 3 would be Junior Media, where we could give Water Vikings members a chance to write, create and participate. My second one would be the Legends Cup column with meeting people who took part in the tournament. I keep learning so much with all these interviews! And my third one would be my own column… (Thanks to DrQ for the amazing idea). Being able to present all the stamps of my childhood game in a column, mixing memories and my passion for writing, is always a pleasure.

B2Hmmmmm, probably the 15th anniversary or the end of year awards, the 15th anniversary we had a bunch of interviews that we did of vets from like 2010-2025, it was pretty peak and it was great organizing and doing interviews for that. The end of year awards which were pretty nearby were also pretty fun because there was a lot of funny nominations people sent in and the event itself was also fire (we maxed 40 let’s go). Special shoutout to junior media for being awesome, tbh media was not in the best spot before we opened up jr media but now I would say it’s thriving and it’s only gonna get better

What are your goals for this committee, and is there anything you’re excited to bring to WV in the future?

KathI think my goals for the committee are: keeping it active, having more projects and coverage of things and the most important one: to keep it fun. Keeping it active is one of my main goals, as in the newsroom, we were joking around saying that we are almost as active as CPA Reporters, which made me laugh since I am a writer myself for CPA, so for sure keeping our committee active is on my list! Having more projects and coverages: We have an amazing team of artists, writers and editors. All our departments are growing. One of the goals is truly to put their talent upfront and to keep making them create. Keep it fun: I want people to be free, to have fun when creating, not being kept in a box and asked for precise stuff. The goal of keeping it fun is mostly because I don’t want people to think it is a full time job. I want them to just create and participate whenever they can! So yeah, my main goal is just to keep it active, let the junior media grow, have a lot of posts to cover news and activities and keep it fun for everyone!

B2: To be honest, rn my one and only goal for the committee is to do literally everything in our power to help win Legends Cup. The amount of propaganda, posts, youtube and tiktok vids that we’re going to be pushing out is only gonna rise from now and I’m really excited for it. I’m not really thinking past LC rn but maybe another Blue Summer Awards? Either way we are prioritizing LC over literally anything and we fs will be doing everything in our power to help bring it home. If anyone would like to help, be sure to check out #junior-media-apps because we are gonna need all the help we can get.

I hope you enjoyed reading more about our wonderful media heads. If you have any questions regarding this special committee, you’re free to ask them in chat or in private; they will always be happy to talk with you about the Media committee. And with that, FEAR THE WAVE.
