Frostbite, Water Vikings Capital — Where did I put this paper again? Wait, is it on already? OH. Hello Water Vikings! Welcome to this themed column: Road to Legends Cup. Last week, we interviewed our favourite Deltarune Lover: Rye. For this new edition of Road to Legends Cup, we sat down with our wonderful HCOV: Claire.
In this week’s episode, we sat down with Claire, a member of the High Council of Vikings (HCOV). She was on the team that elevated the Water Vikings to the rank of a major army and held the title of the army’s longest-serving leader.
When did you join WV? / Tell us a bit about yourself.
I joined the Water Vikings in 2020 during COVID era.💀) and since then I’ve never stopped being loyal to this army. I love it here (and also hate it here LOL) and through the nearly 6 years of armies my love for WV has grown more and more. I was not aware of Club Penguin Armies until 2020 and even tho I did play OG CP as a kid, I joined as a regular troop and I climbed up the ranks over the course of 3 years until I became a leader. Over the years I participated in several tournament editions and wars and I was present during dark and bright times of this army but I honestly never stopped believing in it’s greatness. I’m proud to hold the title of the longest serving leader in Water Vikings history and of it’s most loyal members!
What rank did you reach, and what did you achieve before retiring?
I’m currently a member of the High Council of Vikings (HCOV) but I climbed up the ranks from recruit to commander until I retired and became part of HCOV. I believe my greatest achievements was participating in the Christmas Chaos XIII and March Madness XI victories, being part of many war victories even tho some were during my Higher Command periods and not only leadership, I’ve participated in the reforms that put the us back on track to Major status in 2025 near to the end of my tenure as commander. I must say that during my time serving I was a recruiting and most importantly welcoming workhorse for years and that was important to our growth, specially 2023.
When you first joined, what were people saying about Legends Cup?
I joined during a very heated period when it comes to wars, in fact I joined during a BIG war with SWAT towards the end of 2020 when armies used to max at least 50 during the battles, so that was the big thing when I first joined. Even considering that context, the tournaments were also very important and during MM, CC and of course, LC periods, armies used to work their asses off to win the trophy and Legends Cup was always one of, if not the most important of them all, so there was always a big hype about it since I joined.
When did you first start to feel that everyone was starting to work a lot harder?
I feel like Legends Cup was always the final game to us since I joined, specially now that it’s the only trophy that we don’t have when it comes to major tournaments. I do feel tho that after the reforms in 2024-2025 with the implementation of Viking Academy, Committees systems, Ministries and all the changes related to the structure of the army, there was a base to guide the fire that our staff/HCOM and leaders had, which made us more powerful and motivated to work harder for the trophy.
What do you remember of your first LC?
If I remember correctly, I was not even HCOM back then, I was a staff member, but even then I remember it being the endgame as I mentioned in another question. Everyone was yearning for it in hyped way and even with the loss, the hope didn’t fade as you can tell since we are to this day thirsty to bring this trophy home. That fire made me even more invested with the community and WV and it’s one of the reasons I’m here to this day.
What did you see from others and the army as a whole that motivated you?
Ambition, support and joy. Hyping each other, compensating for others when they can’t do it and having other compensating for you when you can’t either. We were all working together the way we could with what we had for a common final goal, the trophy. The fire that motivated it all was (and still is) everything in the end, makes us connected and stronger and makes the process fun even tho it can be tiring.
What achievements during LC were you most proud of from yourself and the army?
I would say both achievements from myself and the army that I’m most proud of are connected and also connected to the previous reply. I believe bonding for a greater common goal and adjusting our differences as individuals (timezones, ranks, communication, main skills, IRL…) were the key for the run over the years and so far has been a key part for this desired victory. As HCOM and commander, my focus always relied on WV’s community growth, stability and connection which were directly related to our progressive improvement to finally bring this trophy home. Being able to take part in this and provide to others what I’ve lived and have been living in this community is truly an honor and, as cliche as it sounds, together we are stronger.
Are you excited for LC this time around?
One of my favorite WV tactics is “THE WATER VIKINGS SHALL NEVER BACK DOWN FROM A CHALLENGE”. So hell yeah, bring it on!
Anything else to say to Water Vikings?
My mighty vikings, we have are a strong army! Our staff members have a flame in their heart, higher command is day by day more capable and invested and our commanders have the will and the structure to lead the vikings to LC victory this year. Don’t ever forget we are very powerful, no wonder why we are known as the underdogs in this community. Remember that and work together, help, ask, question, suggest, be interested and act on it!!! If you don’t know how, you can ask for guidance on it as well but don’t be quiet. I have faith in you, so I ask you to have faith in yourselves and put the effort, you have the tools for this. Have fun and make friends, that’s why we are here at the end of the day!
Thank you Claire for taking the time to answer our questions! We truly appreciate every person who take the time with us for this column. This conclude the fourth interview for On The Road to Legends Cup! With what you read from our HCOV, do you agree with “THE WATER VIKINGS SHALL NEVER BACK DOWN FROM A CHALLENGE” ? Are you ready for Legends Cup?
Fear the wave!
