WATER VIKINGS PRESENTS – Legends Cup: Ocean Breakthrough

It is that time again, my friends.

Indeed, yet another tournament is here before us – but this is not just any normal tournament. This is Legends Cup XV. Yes. The fifteenth Legends Cup since the start of it in 2010. This is a big year for Club Penguin Armies, as well as a big year for Legends Cup itself. And we, the Water Vikings, are here for yet another year to participate… but this time it’s a bit different.

You see, my friends, this year marks a decade since the Water Vikings first reached the finals in the Legends Cup. Ten years ago around this time, the Water Vikings reached the finals in Legends Cup VI, only to be beaten by the Rebel Penguin Federation. The following year, the Water Vikings once again reached the finalsonce again to be beaten by RPF in the finals. These two losses (although primarily the first) are some of the most controversial in CPA history, primarily due to the allegations of bias and rigging against the Water Vikings. Whether or not that is true, it does not change the fact that the Water Vikings pushed hard in 2015/2016 in an attempt to win the Legends Cup, just to fall short in the finals. Six years after our last time reaching the finals, we reached the finals once again in 2022 against the Templars, again losing. This loss was once again riddled with controversy, as our opponent was exposed for multilogging after years of speculation and damning evidence, originating all the way back to 2018. Notice a trend? It seems every time we reach the finals in this tournament, we fall short due to circumstances that we barely can do anything about. After a decade of trying in this tournament, there has been no closure achieved for us in regards to this tournament. A decade of multiple leaders working to achieve this goal, often falling short right at the end because of circumstances that we simply could not change.

Water Vikings versus Templars, 2022

Well my friends, with a month of averaging around 29 max throughout all of our events, we made ourselves in the top three largest armies with CPAB max, especially when you remove allies from consideration. Indeed, since our return in February, we managed to rise up these past five months reaching a peak position at #3 on the Top Ten, barely falling short of second place, which was only guaranteed to the army above us due to battle points, and not by size. Indeed, we have come together, locked in, and put in a serious amount of work over these months through our recruiting/retention projects, internal restructuring, and networking across the army to develop one of the best teams in the community at the moment. There has not been this much hype for Legends Cup in this army since 2022 – and with how things are going, unless someone decides to multilog (we all know who lol), I am confident that we are the army to reach the finals this year. The finals is not the goal, my friends, no. Instead, we need to win, and finally bring closure to the decade of working towards this goal. Many leaders and teams here have dreamt of and worked hard towards Water Vikings finally winning this tournament. My friends, while the odds are not astoundingly in our favor, the mere fact is we can win this tournament. And we will see to such a victory.

With that in mind, to further motivate you all and reward you all for the amazing work that we must put in to win this tournament, I am proud to announce on behalf of the leadership a new challenge and means for all people in this army to participate – Legends Cup: Ocean Breakthrough. Read on for more.

What is Ocean Breakthrough?

Ocean Breakthrough is our own internal growth, preparation, and competition designed by the leadership in order to incentivize, but also reward, those who care about this army and aim to grow our numbers for the army. Ocean Breakthrough is essentially our own internal take on Legends Cup, where the army members will compete amongst each other, to see who is essentially the best at growing and helping the army.

How Do I Participate?

If you are a staff member – well, you’re in luck! Staff members are automatically considered a part of the Ocean Breakthrough competition. However, if you are a non-staff (a member or a troop), then you are required to obtain the WVRR (Water Viking Recruiting Regiment) role on our Discord server. This role gives you access to our recruiting department, and there you will be considered eligible to participate. This role is opened to ANYONE who wants to participate in the competition, and all you have to do is DM a @Viking Commander for the role.

How Does It Work?

As mentioned, this competition is built around growth. That takes place in two forms: recruiting and welcoming. These two can be best summed up below:

Recruiting

Recruiting is when you invite people to join the server. This can be achieved by inviting friends, or inviting randoms that you find in other servers. Often times, it is best advised to use a Discord alt account in order to invite people – and I would recommend message a @Viking Commander for further information in how to recruit people.

Welcoming

Ah, yes, welcoming. This is an essential part of the army. When new members are brought into the army, like many of you first joined, you were unverified. In order for someone to be considered “welcomed”, you must shoot them a DM and get them to create an account on CPA Battleground. Your strategy is important when it comes to this, as people join and participate for different reasons, so it is best to understand what the people want, and to take things by trial and error. It is important to keep in contact with those you welcome, that way you can get them to attend events!

All questions can be given to an @Viking Commander. The best time to get in recruits and welcomes is to participate in the recruiting sessions ran by our Recruiting Committee.

The Points System

For each task completed, people will receive points. Those with the most points will receive various positions in the leaderboard (mentioned in the next section). Check as follows:

Recruit – 25 points, bonus of 15 points if they attend an event, bonus of 10 per tournament battle, bonus of 50 points per 15 recruits

Welcome – 50 points (bonus of 25 points with a walkthrough), bonus of 15 points if they attend an event, bonus of 10 points if it is your own recruit, bonus of  10 per tournament battle, bonus of 30 points per 10 welcomes

Event Attendance – 5 points, bonus of 15 points if attends 5 in a row

Practice Battle Attendance – 10 points

Tournament Battle Attendance – 15 points

Meme/Propaganda/Art Piece – 2 points per piece

Event Pictures – .5 point per picture

(Staff Only) Event Post – 10 points

Rewards

Time for the fun part, the rewards. There are two sections: the staff section and the member section. This makes it fair, as the staff are much more experienced than the non-staff. The winner of the competition from each side will be rewarded a special champion role in the server. The rest of the awards are as follows and vary on our performance:

The Winners, if we lose Legends Cup early

1st – $15 in any deliverable form
2nd – $10 in any deliverable form
3rd, classic nitro or equivalent (such as 1500 silver)
4th – 750 silver (to use in the shop)
5th – 450 silver (to use in the shop)

Reminder that there are two sets of 5 winners, one for troops and one for staff. That means the real first place win is 30 dollars split between the two first place winners, totaling 15 a piece.

Additional Information

When it boils down to it, this tournament is all about coming together and participating in an attempt to finally bring closure to the decade in the making. Some of you are not incentivized by money, and more incentivized by the mere fact that we are winning – which is fine by me! I just hope that you see this as a token of gratitude for your participation. As for those who are not participating in Ocean Breakthrough, but will attend the tournament – I appreciate your devotion to the Water Vikings nation.

Once and for all,

FEAR THE WAVE
