Frostbite, Water Vikings Capital — Here we go. Three days before the big moment, it is Wednesday, July 22, 2026… The semi-finals are on Sunday, July 26, 2026… One two…. Hello Water Vikings! Welcome to a special edition about Legends Cup. In this post, we will take a look back at the Semi-Finals of 2025.
This year, history is repeating itself with Water Viking facing one more time Rebel Penguin Federation in semi-finals of Legends Cup. Is it Déjà vu? It seems so!
For the occasion, we took a step back in history and went to interview members, staff and veteran that took part in last year semi-finals against RPF.
If you could describe your experience during Semi-finals RPF-WV in three words, what would it be?
Mato: Legendary, nerve-racking, shock
Noa: Tenacious, Optimistic, Focused
Cobra: Very much intense
Stefan: A devastating ending
Ango: Stressful, Uplifting, Fun!
How did you get ready for the semi-finals?
Mato: A LOT of welcoming and registering, I was locked in on getting troops prepared and reaching out to as many people that I could.
Noa: Previous to the semi-finals against RPF it was important for me to support the rest of the community with a “leading by example” mindset, which included attending any and all events I was able to, encouraging others within the community to join those events and explain why it was important, creating new and lasting friendships with people who had just joined so they’d feel welcomed and at home the same way I did when I first joined. It was also crucial to share excitement about the upcoming battle(s) in main chat to hopefully get the others excited about it as well.
Cobra: An absurd amount of recruiting and a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT of outreach. I was dming like 30-40 people at a go. Also, trained very heavy and pushed the hype behind each training event so we could max 40+ at the trainings.
Stefan: Me personally I attended and recruited at every session the whole week, I didnt miss a single event, I dmd over 100 people and all of my registers, I called my irl friends, I welcomed and registered new troops, I was fully focused the whole week on gathering people and reacts and hyping everyone up for the battle.
Ango: I basically cleared my schedule of a lot of things then, to prepare for the more staff related part, I checked on a lot of stuff honestly! DMing people, especially.
What was your favourite part?
Mato: My favorite part would be room 3 of the battle, as I led that room and it was the most thrilling moment of my life.
Noa: My favorite part would have to be the shared excitement and also the nerves because I felt it in my gut that we had a real shot at winning. I knew if we worked hard enough that we could beat RPF in a hard-fought victory and the Finals would be won with ease. I remember the day of the battle and so many of us were in Main Chat and VC preparing for a win that we worked so hard for, logging on and waiting had me shaking in ways I didn’t know Club Penguin could make me shake! It was genuinely a visceral experience.
Cobra: Seeing the grind pay off with #1 finishes and the sizes. Also the funny moments we had just chilling.
Ango: My favourite part was honestly the battle in itself. It was thrilling! Even if it ended on a loss, I was very proud of our progress. The hype was amazing too
seeing that huge number in VC, seeing everyone so motivated in chat…
What would be the hardest part during the period?
Mato: The hardest part during the period is certainly the dread in OT where half our troops didn’t make it into the room (myself included) and ultimately led to our incredible run being put to an end. That would be the hardest part for sure because it was really upsetting for a lot of people.
Noa: For me, it would honestly be realizing the moment we lost settling in. I felt so defeated and disappointed and angry, like I remember sobbing once we were told to log off. There were so many of us locked out of the Iceberg, which was the final room in overtime, and I felt helpless that I was one of them because I felt like… “Well if I could be there right now, maybe it would make a huge difference and maybe we could still win.” I also felt immense empathy and sympathy for Cobra and Stefan afterwards because I was aware of how physically and mentally taxing preparing for this entire thing was for Cobra and I couldn’t really imagine what Stefan was feeling or thinking. I just wanted to give everyone a giant hug, it was a very emotional day for sure.
Cobra: Getting the army up to snuff to match RPF, which was the dominant army at the time.
Stefan: The hardest part was losing the battle in that way of course
Ango: Honestly, time management. I’m already not the greatest at it
so add a huge tournament in a community I deeply care about, and I don’t do anything but WV related things.
What did you learn?
Mato: We learnt we gotta be a little better prepared and try to prevent that from happening again.
Noa: I learned that it IS possible to be this close to victory you can taste it. Hopefully not at the expense of someone’s mental/physical health but with enough hard work and determination from the people involved in the community, I know we can do it again. We would have won the Semi-Finals, I know that in my heart and I know one day Water Vikings will defeat RPF. Just wait and see.
Cobra: If you lock in, you can achieve greatness. Even if we didn’t win, it really proved that with genuine effort and care, you can take any situation and improve it. Applies to anything in life
Stefan: What I learned is even the perfect teams can lose just like that because of a very stupid mistake like the one I did which Im still very disappointed about
Ango: It was around that time that I really learned a lot more about armies, their inner workings, etc. It was really interesting to see everyone working together, how they worked, and how everyone had a part in this.
If you could redo it again, what would you do differently?
Mato: Have 2 VC leaders… and not go to forest…
Noa: What would I do differently? Maybe I could have put in extra for retention and recruiting, but those two definitely go hand-in-hand. If you recruit, it’s very important to keep your recruit coming back and being involved. I struggled a bit with that but I tried. I’m not sure, I’ve been thinking about this one for hours and I feel like… everyone plays a part in keeping this community together, you know? There are always things we can do differently and/or improve on but I think during that time a lot of us wanted that win and were working towards it heavily.
Cobra: Backup VC leading, probably.
Stefan: Preparing wise, I wouldn’t do anything differently because I think I did the most I could just like everyone else on the staff team, battle wise I would be VERY VERY careful when calling out the rooms while VC leading, which I hope I will get the chance to do again.
Ango: Honestly… I’m not sure! Our rise was amazing, our hype was amazing, our maxes were amazing… I don’t know what I would’ve done differently.
What was your role last year during this moment?
Mato: I was a 2ic/LiT during this moment, later winning the best HCOM of the summer award in WV and CPA!
Noa: If I remember correctly, I believe I was a Viking Housecarl? Shoot, maybe I was just a Warrior. I can’t recall. With those lower mod ranks, I wasn’t “in charge” of too much but I remember someone telling me how good I was with retention and involving people in the community (I don’t remember who but thank you, it meant a lot at the time) so that’s basically what I was working on throughout the 2025 Legends Cup.
Cobra: Leader
Stefan: My role was VC Leader of the battle
Ango: Not sure how to describe my “role” per say! I was just part of the staff, trying my best to do my part! I wasn’t HCOM at that moment, and that was a goal of mine, so I did everything I could to support the army, and do my best to make us win. The worst thing to do then was lose motivation after losing, so I guess one of my roles was to keep the morale up
and I think I did a good job at that, if only for a time.
On Sunday, July 26, 2026, we will face them again. A lot of people remember their semi-finals from last year. But this year, with all of us, we can make new memories and, who knows, rewrite history! Are you ready to row to the semi-finals?
Fear the wave!
