Hello, Water Vikings! As part of our month-long anniversary celebration, we’re launching a limited edition column that looks back at the currents that shaped the Water Vikings across the years. Each piece will spotlight someone who helped steer the army during a different era, letting us trace how their decisions pushed the tide forward. While this series continues, I’m interviewing Aaronstone and Revan, two very familar faces in WV who led together in 2021-2022 (they also led in different times, but we’ll be focusing on this era today) and pioneered when it came to Water Vikings in the CPPS era. Leading the army to a Champions Cup victory, the Legends Cup finals, and WV’s highest rank on the Top Ten since OG Club Penguin closed at that point, Aaronstone and Revan further cemented their legacies as WV Legends.
What was your previous army history, and how did you end up joining WV?
Aaronstone: I enlisted in Water Vikings all the way back in 2013. I returned in 2021 originally to be 2ic for a little while and then retire again, but because the leaders of that new generation of WV flopped, I volunteered to lead and now im here.
Revan: I joined back in 2013 I believe with another legend of wv Buddy. We both joined after merging our army the air force of club penguin into WV during its revival and as a I result I became leader. My previous army history is too long for this interview but it’s a decade old career.
How long did you lead WV during this era?
Aaronstone: I led for a year and three months I believe.
Revan: I lead WV for about a year after rejoining in 2020 after returning to armies then again for about another year in 2022
How did this lead you to joining armies, and how has this influenced your view on the army community?
Aaronstone: I first started playing Club Penguin in 2010. I actually went into a Club Penguin Cheats xat chat and followed my friend into Ice Warriors.
Revan: I first played Club Penguin in late 2010 and i joined armies after discovering acp being more of a rouge who followed them around then I joined the Ninjas army as a official troop with a rank in 2011. Being in armies for over 10 years (actually enlisted and taking part the community) has influenced my views on this community considerably as i’ve seen and experienced it all from a young age I know this community in and out.
What was the biggest achievement of yours during your 2021-2022 leadership?
Aaronstone: Probably winning Champions Cup and then our run to the Legends Cup Finals. Also hitting our highest rank on the TT since OG Club Penguin closed at that point. (2nd place)
Revan: My biggest achievement was ensuring WVs survival with aaron. Sizes, tourneys, wars means nothing because in the long run our success is the fact this community still exists today because if we did not intervene when we did and did not have our success in keeping this army afloat it would of most likely died and never of returned.
You’ve both led WV and served as members of the HCOV in various different eras. What made this era in the (somewhat) early stages of CPPS unique?
Aaronstone: Honestly the adjustment from what I knew about leading back then to how things are now. I like to think I adapted well but early on it was a big eye opener.
Revan: CPPS is unique as it offers new challenges and bonuses such as discord being a great way to build an army and the community it offers but also is more demanding as more moderation and planning is needed unlike before
What challenges did you face during this leadership?
Aaronstone: Well we faced alot of internal challenges, cliques forming and external ones too with an aggressive Templars breathing down our neck which we defended well against many times and also the Help Force picking on our brother ally the Silver Empire which didnt go too well admittedly.
Revan: My challanges personally was myself. My ego was the biggest challenge to overcome.
Where in Water Vikings do you think you left the most impact? How did you innovate during your leadership, and how did you affect WV’s future/legacy?
Aaronstone: Honestly truthfully I dont know if Water Vikings would be here today if weren’t for me and Revan. I don’t think that leadership lineup that was originally pitched would have worked out too well in the long run, respectfully. I think that the way things worked out is the reason WV is here today.
Revan: My biggest impact is a numerous reforms I helped introduce things such as the silver currency and community based channels in the server although i think my biggest impact is on hype and really giving WV the best hyping methods far more advanced and effective than other armies.
If there was something from the 2021-2022 era that you would bring/implement into the modern WV, what would it be?
Aaronstone: Bring back the purple uniform for all tournaments.
Revan: I don’t think there is anything i’d implement every year is different and every leadership must adapt and learn to it, you can say you can bring something into modern WV that worked in the past but you never know if it will actually work in the current enviroment
What advice would you give to Water Vikings now based on your experience?
Aaronstone: I followed a mentality of just keep moving forward no matter what. Learn from your mistakes and keep pushing and the rest will fall into place for you. Fight through the demotivation and just dedicate yourself to what you do.
Revan: My advice to all Water Vikings is simply don’t let your ego overtake you, stay in WV don’t betray WV or your friends in WV as it will haunt you. You may be lucky to be allowed back in but the scars will remain. Focus on your career in WV.
When CPPS were still quite new and WV was struggling to stay afloat, Aaronstone and Revan both worked hard to innovate and keep the army running. They made sure that WV would be in good hands in the future, and added various features to help the community. Along with this, they brought the army to a Champions Cup victory and a high spot on the top ten.
