Good evening, Water Vikings!
Welcome to the eighth edition of Valhalla & Mangoes, where I conduct an interview towards a chosen troop that has proven to be active in the community and that has participated in making the army a better place.
Today is a more special interview, as for every beginning of the month, a member of the Staff team will be interviewed! Today, it was Ryebread, a current Leader with a lasting history in the CPA community. I apologize for the lateness of the post. You’ll find the questions & answers below!
Tell me a bit about yourself.
Im Rye, otherwise known as Banjo, or Rhian, I joined the community 5 years ago from the Dark Warriors. I held the Leader title in armies such as Special Weapons and Tactics, Penguins of Madagascar [rest in piss], and now the Water Vikings. In CPA, I am a Head YouTuber, Graphic Designer, and part of the Top Ten Committee.
Besides armies, I love cats, especially my 2 boys. I like playing Minecraft, Deltarune, and Club Penguin unironically. I w*rk as a Barista, and I enjoy nature walks, writing, and fashion.
How would you describe your rise, the work you had to accomplish to reach this title of leader today?
Well my rise to leader was in my opinion a bit too early as i still wasnt very involved in the CPA community nor did I know many people. Once I created POM I feel like thats when the weight really started to get heavy. Even though it was a small army there was still plenty of disagreements & controversies that I faced, that I was not prepared for. Although they could have been handled better, it’s those mistakes that made me learn, get experience, and prevent the same mistake from happening again.
I really do think that the army you choose plays a huge role in the type of leader you become. I have learned the most from Water Vikings by far, and that is mostly due to my former and fellow leaders & staff team. I cant really describe it, but each one of you have helped me, whether it was intentional or not. So, thank you.
Do you remember what it was like when you first joined WV?
Yes.
This was right when POM was shutting down and Dino reached out to me offering to join as a second in command. WV was an army that I had wanted to join for a long long time but didn’t think I would fit in (basically since the second eagre foray.) and I was really happy to be invited to WV so I accepted right away.
Upon joining I was thrown into war and got to know my new team, especially Cabin, Claire, Joel, Escot, Kira, and many more. It felt nice to have a break and a new goal.
Do you have a memorable moment/event in mind when it comes to your time in Water Vikings?
Winning my first major war vs ACP (12-1-1), our 14th Anniversary, winning my first tournament in Candy Crush Brawl (we don’t talk about BB), “a new wave” event, Legends Cup XV, and many more events to come.
If you had anything to say to the entire community, what would it be?
After the HoF Ceremony ended today, I sat and thought about just how much time I’ve put into WV, the highs and the lows, the long talks, the sudden shifts, but I’ve never regretted it. I’m forever grateful for the family here and I want to give back to you all. I apologize to any of you I have let down, please don’t be afraid to speak up, so that I can make improvements and you can be heard. I’m not perfect. But I will work my a– off to try to get there and be the Leader WV needs.
